Ms. Roa is an avid Harry Potter fan!!
I like to read, watch anime, paint, garden, bake, and knit in my spare time. I spoil my lazy cat Georgie ( who is toilet trained) and my blue-nosed pit Bastion ( who is a rescue and former fight dog). I've been teaching for over 7 years and taught in High Schools and Colleges. I currently teach freshmen and yearbook during the week days at Knight High School, Diploma Classes at night at the AV Adult School, and High School for the Migrant Education program on the weekends. I got into education because I grew up on the wrong side of the tracks with a single mother but managed to get to college despite not necessarily having the money or the belief in myself for it. I learned that where I came from, my gender, and my skin are not excuses, crutches, or things to be ashamed of, but rather things to be celebrated and proud of. I believe we are all intelligent in our own way, but that we just need to find a way to believe in ourselves enough to take a chance and figure it out. I believe that if you want something, you will find a way to get it, and that we can all help each other to create a world in which we are respectful and support each other in a selfless manner. |
